Updated By the SalesOne research team10 min read
The short answer
From July to mid-October 2026, companies announced new manufacturing plants in the US and expansions ranging from a $16.8 billion chip complex in Texas to plants costing under $10 million. This tracker lists 35 of them with the company, location, investment, jobs and public source, and explains what a new plant means for the companies that supply it.
Which new manufacturing plants were announced in 2026?
These are new plants, new lines and major expansions announced between Jul 1 and Oct 15, 2026, newest first. Each row was checked against the public announcement listed in the sources at the end of this page. Figures are as announced; plans, budgets and hiring targets can change after an announcement.

New manufacturing plants in North Carolina
North Carolina’s announcements are spread across the Piedmont: Corvid Technologies in Mooresville (423 jobs), Utili-Serve in Conover (105), ProVia in Mocksville (400), STERIS in Sanford (about 335) and Pierre Guerin in Clayton (160). The state’s governor announces most large projects, with the jobs and investment the company has committed to.
New manufacturing plants in Georgia
Georgia’s are spread across the state: Siemens in Pendergrass (1,400+ jobs over three years), Hyundai Transys in West Point (320), DeltaX in Monroe (about 250), VDL Groep in Oakwood (about 120) and Mayville Engineering in Thomson (about 140).
New manufacturing plants in Texas
Texas has the largest projects in the tracker: the SpaceX Terafab complex in Grimes County, Toyota’s second Tacoma line in San Antonio, Lockheed Martin’s munitions expansion in Grand Prairie, IEM’s power-equipment plant in San Antonio and SEG Solar’s module plant in Houston. Most are tied to semiconductors, defense, power or vehicles.
New manufacturing plants in Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama
In Tennessee, Prysmian is doubling its fiber cable plant in Jackson and ArtiCast Jackson is reopening a die-casting plant in Madison County. In South Carolina, Octapharma plans a $1.5 billion plasma therapy plant in Rock Hill and Detpak USA opened its first US packaging plant in Spartanburg County. In Alabama, Epsilon Industries broke ground on its Tuscaloosa expansion. All three states announce many smaller expansions each month that this tracker does not list.
Which industries are building new plants?
Five industries account for most of the large announcements in this tracker:
- Semiconductors and computing hardware: SpaceX Terafab, VDL Groep (equipment for chip plants), Bitdeer.
- Defense and aerospace: Anduril, Lockheed Martin, Corvid Technologies, Kratos, Electra, Beehive Industries.
- Power and electrical equipment, much of it for data centers and the grid: Siemens, IEM, Utili-Serve, DeltaX, Prysmian.
- Pharmaceuticals and medical products: Octapharma, Genentech, Resilience with Eli Lilly, STERIS.
- Vehicles and their suppliers: Toyota, Ford, Hyundai Transys, Daimler Truck, Toyota Material Handling.
The 2026 USA Reshoring Survey by the Reshoring Initiative and Regions Recruiting (249 respondents: 118 manufacturers that make their own products and 131 contract manufacturers) points the same way: 63% of the product manufacturers said they would make US capital investments through 2027 to support reshoring or other domestic expansion.
What does a new plant mean for suppliers?
A new plant is a list of purchases with a schedule. Before production starts, someone has to design the building, equip the lines, automate them, hire and train the people and qualify the suppliers. Each step is bought, and most are bought from companies the plant has never used before.
| Stage after the announcement | What gets bought | Who sells it |
|---|---|---|
| Site and design | Site work, engineering, permits, environmental studies | Engineering, design and environmental firms |
| Construction | Building, utilities, power distribution, cranes, racking | Contractors, electrical and material-handling suppliers |
| Equipment and lines | Machines, robotic cells, controls, conveyors, test systems | Equipment makers, automation integrators, distributors |
| Hiring and training | Plant leadership, engineers, operators, training programs | Executive search, staffing, training providers |
| Supply chain | Components, castings, machined parts, packaging, chemicals | Contract manufacturers, machine shops, packaging suppliers |
| Ramp-up | Process improvement, quality systems, maintenance, MRO supplies | Operations consultants, MRO distributors, service firms |
The earlier a supplier reaches the plant, the more it can shape what gets bought. By the time a request for quote goes out, the buying team has often chosen the two or three suppliers it trusts. The announcement date is the start of that window, not the end of it. In SalesOne’s buying signals library, a new site counts as a growth signal and stays useful for months, because each stage above opens a new set of purchases.
Who to contact depends on the stage. Early on it is the project or engineering lead and the person named as plant manager; later it is operations, procurement and quality. The announcement often names the executive who spoke for the company, which is a good first clue. The buying committee guide shows how to map the rest.
How do you find new plant announcements yourself?
You find new plant announcements in the places that publish them first: state governors and economic development agencies, company newsrooms and local business press. For a supplier, the useful part is not the list but the date and the people, so record both.
- Governor and state economic development press releases. Most large projects that receive state incentives are announced here first, with the investment and job commitments.
- Company newsrooms and press wires. Public companies often announce expansions alongside results or capital plans.
- Local business journals and TV news. They cover the smaller projects that state releases skip, and often name the local site.
- County and city records: incentive approvals, rezoning and building permits. They can come before the public announcement, and they carry dates.
- Job postings for a new site. A company hiring a plant manager or maintenance lead for a town where it has no plant is about to have one.
Keep three dates apart: the announcement, the groundbreaking and the opening. They can be a year or more apart, and each one changes who is buying. Count a project once, at its first public date, so the same plant does not reappear as news every few months.
Then check fit before anyone writes. A plant announcement makes a company relevant, not qualified: check its size, its ownership and whether the plant needs what you sell. That is account qualification, and keeping a reason for every company you leave out stops the same names coming back next quarter.
How does SalesOne use new plant announcements?
SalesOne’s S1 deep research agents search a client’s market for dated events like these, then accept or reject each company against the client’s ideal customer profile, with the reason. For each company they accept, they map the people who own the problem the new plant creates and draft a point of view. A person approves every message before it is sent, and every approval is recorded with who gave it. See how SalesOne works for companies that sell to manufacturers.
